The job
Our games are provably fair. However, several hosts have asked us to also make them feel fair. You will review shuffles — thousands of them — and confirm that they look random in addition to being random. This role exists because a cryptographic proof, however elegant, cannot reassure a man who has just split tens.
What you'll do
- Review shuffle outputs and confirm they look the way randomness should feel
- Own and maintain the internal definition of "suspicious"
- Certify each deck twice: once mathematically, once emotionally
- Publish the monthly report, titled "Still Random"
- Handle escalations from players who saw the same card twice this week
What we're looking for
- Strong opinions about entropy, weakly held
- Able to review a four-hour shuffle log without blinking excessively
- Believes in mathematics but respects feelings
- SQL a plus; tarot a red flag, but we're open to a conversation
- Has never once said "the deck is cold" in a professional setting
Why we're doing this
Provably fair is a proof. This role is the reassurance.
